Thousand Island Dressing - Dairy-free with helpful Body-type Insights

Thousand Island Dressing
Free of Gluten, Dairy, Nuts, Soy, Corn

Traditionally, salad dressing is used to compliment the flavors of the salad as well as prepare and assist the body in digestion. Whether you eat your salad before a meal like those of us in the U.S.A., or after, as the Italians do; with the right ingredients you can enjoy wonderful flavor and great health.

This recipe has it all and is relatively balanced for all Body-types. The oily mayonnaise supports the Air-types needs of dense nutrition and the cayenne spice balances the coolness of the salad. The spice is not too much for Fire-types, who are often attracted to pungent flavors. The natural cooling characteristics of most salad ingredients as well as the cool nature of this creamy dressing, keep this salad topping more balanced for Fire-types despite the bit of fiery cayenne in this recipe. Earth-types can enjoy this dressing, although they, more than the other types, need to practice moderation. The very creamy texture of this dressing is Earthy in nature, and, therefor is best used as a compliment to the dressing, rather than the main attraction.

If you feel that you are out-of-balance stick to the following salad ingredients for your Body-type characteristics.

Earth-types-
Bitter, pungent (spicy) or dryer veggies help Earth-types. Examples are: dandelion greens, radicchio, arugula, green onion, radishes, sprouts, sweet peppers, tomatoes, cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower and use moderately, if at all, the veggies suggested for Air-types below.

Fire-types- Sweet, sour, moist or cool veggies help Fire-types feel more balanced. These include romaine lettuce, spinach, baby greens, carrots, beets, cucumbers, zucchini, mushrooms, etc. Ingredients such as tomatoes and onions, (Fire-types, particularly when already imbalanced, are notorious for gravitating to foods that imbalance them even more) are best avoided when this person is out of balance.

Air-type- If an Air-type is already out-of-balance, lightly cooked veggies are more balancing than raw veggies, but if you are in a warm climate or in a summery season (an Earthy season which is naturally more balancing), a raw salad is very nutritious and can be made to be more balancing. Include sweet, juicy or dense ingredients like romaine lettuce, spinach, baby greens, mushrooms, carrots, beets, zucchini, hard-cooked eggs (include the yolk, which is is more dense and nutritious and balancing for the Air-type), nuts and seeds, and peas are some good examples. While cucumbers do fall under a number of the criterion, they have a cooling affect on the body and are best used when cooling and moistening affects are needed, as for Fire-types.

If you feel rather balanced, pile on a variety of ingredients and enjoy your balanced salad for your balanced being!

Bag Lunch tips
This dressing can be taken for a bag lunch very easily. In a large container place lettuce and other salad toppings. Put dressing in a small, airtight container and take with you both containers (perhaps in a larger cooler with a cold-pack) to work, school or other destination. Note, do not put the lettuce container directly on an ice-pack or cold-pack as the lettuce can spoil with such cold temperatures. Use a towel or other container as a buffer.
