Edgar Cayce was an early twentieth century prophet. He had a psychic gift since a young age- as many of us do as youngsters. What was unique about him was that his abilities increased as he got older.
Cayce is well-known for the hundreds of readings he did while in trance. As a young boy he professed that what he wanted to do most was, "To be helpful to others, and especially to children when they are sick." (p. I)
And so he did. Many of the readings he performed were personal readings for people. The demand for these readings increased as the years went on. Even though doing such readings and the information obtained from such readings were contradictory to his fundamentalist Christian beliefs, he performed them anyway. He said, "I certainly believe that the information contained in hundreds of readings in our files helps clarify and explain the Bible for me." (p. VII)
I find the readings of Cayce to be great food-for-thought. In the book I am citing for this article, The Edgar Cayce Companion, the section on Mental and Physical Conception presents some very interesting information. What most captivates me is reading log 457-11
"Ovulation is a law of nature. Conception is the law of God... The sex of the child depends upon the attitudes of the individuals, and especially those held by the mother. As to whether it is the male or female oft may depend upon the discharge of the opposite sex. That of the mother brings the son; that of the father brings the daughter. They are opposites."
This deserves a bit of interpretation in order to expand it later on. In my experience in observing people, life and particularly in body-typing ,the above reading means this- The sex of the child is determined by the parent who is stronger in physical or mental constitution. The sex of the child is the opposite sex of this stronger parent.
For example- If a woman is very intent on being a mother, she feels it is her calling, and is of a stronger mental determination in life at that point than her partner, they will likely have a boy. This is an even greater likelihood if she is in very good physical condition for supporting a baby. The chances are even greater if the male partner is not as physically strong as the woman and/or is mentally unfocused or tired.
The opposite is then true. Say, for example, a young couple is starting out in life and the father is very determined to pursue his career and be established in life. His mental determination can outweigh that of the mother and therefor produce a girl. This is further strengthened if he is of a hearty constitution. These types tend to be of the Fire and/or Earth types. Ones physical strength and constitution can be greatly correlated to the food they ate in their formative years- including and likely most importantly, from being breastfed. (See my book, You-niversal Self-care for more on this).
The same goes in either case if the couple is of a rather equal mental-determination in life (in their own respect or desires, not just in wanting to have a child)- then it is the physical strength in body constitution that is likely the determining factor of the baby's sex.
Yes, there are a number of factors, and this encourages a lot of expanded thought. So, let's take this a bit further... If we are contemplating that this theory is true, why would it need to be so in the greater scheme of things?
Our world and our universe seek balance. When we are thirsty-we drink, when the crops need rain- we pray for precipitation to balance the elements, when it is too hot- we desire a breeze, there is a constant Yin-Yang effect. Science states it as, "Every action has an equal and opposite reaction."
Most humans still act with a rather primitive mindset. This is no insult- we've actually learned to hunt, gather, build a home and procreate in a rather physically evolved manner; and these are still our basic desires: food, shelter, and to continue the lineage.
Anyone who has bred animals knows that you breed for the traits that you want to keep in the next generation. Humans have more freewill in the process of finding a mate. Other than prearranged marriage or geno-manipulation, the act of culling bad-traits by choice breeding does not exist so much as it does with animals.
But there still has to be a balance. If we have an aggressive cock in our flock, he becomes stew meat. To some degree this happens with humans except the controller of the flock tends to be society or nature itself. The aggressive-type goes to war and is occupied in war or killed, or in another case becomes a menace to society and is incarcerated or killed. But what if this man (in this case) procreates before he is somehow eliminated from society? Do we desire his over-aggressive tendencies to continue in our culture? Most people would say, no.
By the above-stated theory based on Cayce's reading, the offspring of this male would most likely produce a female indicated by his extremely strong physical and mentally determined demeanor. These factors would likely negate those of the mothers, pretty much no matter how strong.
Putting aside the spiritual karma, etc. that the child may inherit, the generally softer female nature being brought out in the female child of the extremely aggressive man would be the Yin to his Yang that he creates in the world. The universe seeks balance.
Of course there are factors such as, how the child is raised, but the general tendency of the female child will be of a balancing affect to the fathers. Even if she is more aggressive than her female friends, she is likely to be much less aggressive than if this extremely-aggressive man had produced a son.
Take into perspective that I am not only proposing this as a theory of the physical sexes, but particularly of these states as a concept.
Every person, culture and nation has its time of Yang- of building and expanding as well as a time of Yin- restoration and care-taking. What happens if we become too dominated by one state or another? We need a balance of both.
One thing is for sure- Nature Seeks Balance.
