Why Chili is so good in the Spring Time

Chili is often thought of as a fall or winter meal. It helps warm the body and leaves a hearty feeling in the tummy.

Spring is a wet, cool time. Many people come down with the sniffles or a cold- and some experience seasonal allergies. Chili is actually a great remedy for such symptoms. Why? you might ask. Well, chili has naturally medicianal warming and drying qualities to it which counteract the maladies brought on by the cool, damp spring. The beans, chili pepper, garlic, salt and even tomatoes create a wonderful concoction to clear nasal passages and get the blood flowing to encourage and facilitate healing. The beans in particular provide easy-to-use carbs to give the body good energy. Also, in Traditional Chinese Medicine beans--particularly the kidney and black variety--are revered for their energetic, life-boosting potential.

Chili is particularly good for the type of people--namely the Earth and Water-types--who: tend to retain water easily, generally feel tired or lethargic, have a tendency to produce excessive mucus with a cold, who have a cool, damp sensation to their skin and well. If you crave it, that's a sign that you may need it too!
